"Fed the Confederates"

Films: Dead Birds (2004)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted home

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: The time of the American Civil War was the absolute worst time to be living in the south. On one hand, you were living with the Confederates, or worse, fighting for them. Also, the people there were frankly monsters to whoever wasn't white. But even in bad places, things can always get worse...

History: Long ago, a farmer attempted to resurrect his wife by sacrificing just about everyone he knew, including his own children. To do this, he utilized forbidden rituals of dark magic learned from his slaves. Instead, he ended up giving rise to demons that possessed the dead, leaving him at the mercy of an angry mob that crucified him into a scarecrow. But the Dead Birds, as we will call the demons, still inhabit his house along with his ghost, something that some Confederate thieves did not count on...

Notable Kills: The way these demons are conceived brings to mind the Chestburster from the "Alien" movies, except they come out fully grown. Also, one guy gets turned into a scarecrow.

Final Fate: Everyone who entered that house on this night ends up dead by morning. Even the demons seem worse for wear, with many having been gunned down. But new people come to investigate, ensuring that the remaining Dead Birds will have something to work with...

Powers/Abilities: These demons can possess anybody, and warp their features to match some of their own.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Ignoring the bizarre mixture of practical and CGI effects, the Dead Birds are rather terrifying. The ritual to bring them in is barbaric, their faces bring to mind those effective Youtube jump scare vids of old, and their real forms look fleshy and inhuman. Also, their involuntary summoner was a dick before and beyond the grave.

Trivia: -The town scenes were actually done in what was left from the sets of Tim Burton's "Big Fish".

-This film was done in 21 days.
